1. Introduction

These Terms of Use govern access to and use of https://gplive.ie (“the Website” or “Platform”). By accessing the Website or using any services provided through it, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, together with our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with these Terms, you must stop using the Website immediately.

References to “we”, “us”, or “our” mean GPLive.ie, and references to “you” or “user” mean any person accessing or using the Platform.

2. About GPLive.IE

GPLive.ie operates an online healthcare platform that facilitates access to qualified healthcare professionals for remote medical consultations, including video and telephone consultations, in Ireland.

All healthcare professionals providing services through the Platform are appropriately qualified, registered, and entitled to practise in Ireland in accordance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.

The Platform is made available in accordance with Irish law.

3. Nature of the Service

GPLive.ie provides a telemedicine and digital health service intended to improve access to healthcare.

  • Consultations are conducted remotely and rely on the information provided by the patient.
  • The service is not suitable for situations requiring urgent physical examination.
  • GPLive.ie does not replace in-person care from GPs, hospitals, or emergency services.
  • Prescriptions will not be provided for benzodiazepines, Z‑drugs, opioids, or stimulant medications.
  • The service is not suitable for medical emergencies or urgent conditions requiring immediate in‑person care.
  • The service is not intended for children under 3 years of age.
  • A face‑to‑face consultation may be required where a healthcare professional determines that an in‑person assessment is clinically necessary.

In emergencies, call 999 or 112, or attend the nearest Emergency Department immediately.

Any general health information made available on the Website is for informational purposes only and should not be treated as individual medical advice.

4. Eligibility and Use by Minors

Users must be at least 18 years old to book a consultation for themselves.

For patients under 18, a parent or legal guardian must:

  • Provide consent during booking;
  • Be present at the start of the consultation;
  • Confirm their identity and relationship to the patient.

5. Booking and User Responsibilities

Consultations must be booked in advance and paid for at the time of booking in order to confirm the appointment.

You agree that:

  • All information you provide is accurate, complete, and up to date;
  • You will not book appointments on behalf of another person without their consent;
  • You have suitable internet access, a compatible device, and a private environment for the consultation.

GPLive.ie is not responsible for failed or disrupted consultations caused by technical issues on the user’s side.

6. Conduct of Consultations

  • Consultations are conducted via secure third-party platforms approved for GDPR compliance.
  • Patient identity will be confirmed at the start of each consultation.
  • Consultations are normally one-to-one unless otherwise agreed.

Healthcare professionals may refuse or end a consultation where:

  • There is abusive, threatening, or inappropriate behaviour;
  • False or incomplete information is provided;
  • The consultation cannot be safely or effectively conducted remotely.

7. Prescriptions and Treatment

Prescriptions or treatments may be provided only where clinically appropriate, at the discretion of the healthcare professional.

  • Prescriptions can be sent only to pharmacies within the Republic of Ireland.
  • Repeats, changes, or replacements generally require a new request or consultation.
  • GPLive.ie cannot guarantee that a prescription will be issued.

A separate prescription-only service may be available based on a clinical questionnaire, subject to approval by a qualified GP.

8. Fees and Payment

All fees are clearly displayed at the time of booking.

Payments can be made via approved payment methods such as debit/credit card or PayPal. Appointments are not confirmed until payment has been received.

GPLive.ie reserves the right to decline or cancel bookings where:

  • Payment has not been received;
  • Required consent is missing;
  • The Platform is misused.

9. Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Refunds

  • Patients may cancel or reschedule up to 48 hours before the scheduled consultation for a full refund or reschedule (subject to availability).
  • Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the appointment are non-refundable.
  • Failure to attend an appointment is treated as a cancellation with no refund.

If the healthcare professional is unavailable, users may choose a refund or rescheduled appointment.

Refunds are issued using the original payment method where possible.

10. Consumer Rights

By purchasing consultation services that begin immediately after booking, you acknowledge that you are requesting the service to commence and may therefore lose the statutory 14-day cooling-off period under Irish consumer law, except where a refund is otherwise provided under these Terms.

This does not affect your statutory consumer rights.

11. Website Use Restrictions

You may use the Website for personal, non-commercial purposes only.

You must not:

  • Use the Website unlawfully or fraudulently;
  • Interfere with its operation or security;
  • Attempt to copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, or exploit the Website;
  • Upload or transmit harmful, offensive, or misleading material.

GPLive.ie may suspend or terminate access where misuse is identified.

12. Intellectual Property

All content on the Website, including text, logos, graphics, and software, is owned by or licensed to GPLive.ie and is protected by intellectual property laws.

You may view and download content for personal use only. Commercial use or reproduction without permission is prohibited.

13. Limitation of Liability

We take reasonable steps to ensure the accuracy and availability of the Website but do not guarantee uninterrupted access or error-free content.

GPLive.ie is not liable for:

  • Decisions made based on information provided during consultations;
  • Third-party platforms or websites linked from our Platform;
  • Technical issues beyond our control.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under Irish law.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Any changes will take effect once published on the Website. Continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
